Privacy policy

Last updated 17 October 2026

Catch Report is a fishing logbook. This page explains, in plain English, what it stores about you, who can see it, and what you can do about it. If anything isn't clear, email [email protected].

Who we are

Catch Report (catch-report.co.uk) is run by Rob Hill in the United Kingdom. For data protection law (UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018), Rob Hill is the "controller" of your information. Contact: [email protected].

What we store

We don't use advertising, tracking cookies or analytics, and we never sell your information.

Who can see it

Why we use it (our lawful basis)

Companies that help run the app

These companies handle your information only to provide their service to us:

When you use Find my lake or the weather fill, your phone sends the location (not your name or email) straight to free public services: OpenStreetMap (Nominatim and Overpass), postcodes.io and Open-Meteo.

Some of these companies work outside the UK. Where they do, they use the legal safeguards UK law requires (such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum or a UK adequacy decision).

On your phone

The app keeps a copy of your logbook on your phone so it works with no signal, and remembers that you're logged in. This is stored by your browser, not a tracking cookie. Logging out removes it.

How long we keep it

We keep your account and logbook for as long as you have an account. If you don't use the app for 3 years, we may delete your account after emailing you first. When you delete your account, everything (account, catches, sessions, photos, shopping list and Community posts) is removed straight away. Copies in our backups are overwritten within about 30 days.

Your rights

You can:

Email [email protected] and we'll reply within one month. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. We'd appreciate the chance to sort it out first.

Children

You need to be 13 or over to make an account. If you're under 18, please check with a parent or guardian first.

Changes

If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. If it's a big change, such as a new way of using your information, we'll tell you in the app or by email first.
